Our journey into purpose work began in 2014 following the tragic loss of a beloved young man to suicide within our close-knit community. Shortly after, we discovered that three other high school seniors from neighboring areas had also taken their own lives within a few months. This was alarming and was not being openly discussed, prompting us to create Facebook pages: "Suicide and Mental Health Awareness" and "Self Care Session by QMINT" to combat the stigma.
Although it's a difficult topic, You can't manage what you don't acknowledge. Over time, numerous individuals have reached out to us seeking guidance on preventing suicide attempts by themselves or their loved ones. We have provided resources and a safety plan outline to have in place before a mental health crisis arises.
The Self Care Safety Plan is now available as an easy to use guide ; it serves as a valuable tool for those battling suicidal thoughts and their caregivers. This simple guide offers crucial assistance during critical moments, encouraging healthy meaningful conversations to establish a calm, de-escalation plan for safety until the feelings pass. The Self Care Safety Plan is for anyone looking to support a loved one or themselves with positive coping strategies, maintaining a secure environment and mental health resources.
